Masterclasses

‘I myself took my first dance steps in Genoa and would have really appreciated it if, at that time, internationally trained professionals had come to my hometown to teach me ballet. I consider it a duty for such a large festival to involve future generations of artists and to give them access to higher education and culture through dedicated initiatives and reduced-price tickets.’
There are 9 master classes dedicated to young aspiring dancers who have the opportunity to study with important maestros working on the international dance scene.
The master classes take place in the afternoon at the Teatro Carlo Felice also on the performance days of the Festival’s guest companies. Participation is possible, subject to selection by an examining board composed of:
Maina Gielgud – International Étoile, former Artistic Director Australian Ballet and Royal Danish Ballet
Jacopo Bellussi – Principal dancer Hamburg Ballet, Étoile Ballet de l’Opéra national du Capitole Toulouse
Aleix Martínez – Principal dancer Hamburg Ballet, Artistic Director Mannera Dance
After examining the applications and photos received, the committee makes its final decision on the suitability or unsuitability of the candidates. The outcome is communicated by e-mail.
You can apply for more than one selection by filling out and sending the form (one for each selection for the requested masterclass) to education@carlofelice.it. Please attach two full-length photographs in dance attire. Required poses: battement tendu à la seconde and première arabesque en l’air. The poses should be performed without the support of the barre.
