Jacopo Bellussi
Jacopo Bellussi, born in Genoa in 1993, began his training at theAccademia del Teatro alla Scala in Milan, then moved to the Royal Ballet School in London, where he graduated with top honors. He began his professional career with the Bayerisches Staatsballett, and a year later, in 2012, he joined theHamburg Ballett, where he continued his rise, becoming a soloist and then principal dancer in 2019. In 2024, he was appointed Étoile of the Ballet du Capitole in Toulouse, confirming his prominent position in the international dance scene.
Over the course of his career, Bellussi has received numerous awards and honors, including the Danza&Danza Prize as “Best Italian Dancer Abroad” in 2016, the “Konstanze Vernon” Prize in Germany from an international jury, the Positano Léonide Massine Prize in 2022, and the prestigious “Città di Foligno” International Dance Prize in 2024. He was also awarded the title of “Ambassador of Genoa in the World” in 2024 by then Mayor Marco Bucci for his cultural and social contribution to the city.
Despite his international success, Bellussi remains connected to his hometown of Genoa. After the Morandi Bridge collapse, he organized a charity gala in 2019 to support families affected by the tragedy, an event that sold out and earned him the title of “Talent of the City.” Since then, he has continued to organize events to bring great dance back to Genoa, making it accessible to a wider and wider audience. In 2022, after the lockdown, he organized another benefit gala at the Teatro Carlo Felice. In 2023 it organizes two benefit galas at the Politeama Genovese and the Teatro Sociale di Camogli and a summer event titled “Triptych on the Port of Genoa” at the Arena del Mare, with dancers from Antwerp, Copenhagen, and Hamburg. In 2024 it renews its international gala at Teatro Carlo Felice, while organizing a benefit show at Gaslini Hospital for hospitalized children.
Following the success of his events, Bellussi is appointed in 2024 as “Senior Consultant for the Enhancement of the New Nervi Ballet Festival 2025.” He invites the Hamburg Ballet company to perform at Nervi Parks in July 2024 with a performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. In November 2024, Jacopo Bellussi is awarded the expression of interest by the Fondazione Teatro Carlo Felice and is appointed “Artistic Director of the Nervi Festival 2025.”
