WAITING FOR THE FESTIVAL Cranko film screening
Screening of the biopic Cranko by Joachim A. Lang (133 min., Zeitsprung Pictures). Released in international theaters in 2024, it stars Sam Riley in the role of John Cranko (1927-1973), one of the most important choreographers of the twentieth century who directed the Stuttgart Ballet in the 1960s. The film was made available by the German company that will be a guest of the Nervi International Ballet Festival 2025 and is coming to Genoa for the first time.
The screening is preceded by a conversation with the superintendent of the Fondazione Teatro Carlo Felice, Michele Galli, and the artistic director of the Nervi International Ballet Festival, Jacopo Bellussi.

Film screening Romeo and Juliet: Beyond Words
A screen reinterpretation (not filmed in a theatre) of the ballet based on the most famous love story of all time, with music by Sergei Prokofiev and choreography by Sir Kenneth MacMillan. Directed by International Emmy Award winners and BalletBoyz® founders Michael Nunn and William Trevitt, this film premiered at London’s Sadler’s Wells Theatre in 2019 and was broadcast on the BBC in 2020. It stars the stars of The Royal Ballet – a company that will be the guest of the Nervi International Ballet Festival 2025 – internationally recognised as the world’s finest actor-dancers.

Meeting with Luigi Bonino, dancer and choreographer, long-time collaborator of Roland Petit and former guest at the Nervi Festival during the Mario Porcile era. The event will feature the étoiles of the Ballet de l’Opéra de Paris, Roxane Stojanov and Hugo Marchand, performers of Le jeune homme et la mort at the Parchi di Nervi during the 2025 festival, and Jacopo Bellussi, artistic director of the Nervi International Ballet Festival. Coaching for dance teachers on the variation from Sleeping Beauty.
Maina Gielgud, international star and artistic director, former muse of important choreographers, has graced the world stages alongside partners such as Rudolf Nureyev and is today a guest maître in the greatest companies around the world. Universally recognized as a dance legend, she honors the Nervi International Ballet Festival 2025 with her presence and collaboration.

Meeting with the Spanish dancer Lucia Lacarra, former prima ballerina of the Bayerisches Staatsballett from 2002 to 2016, who will discuss, in particular, the theme of partnership in ballet. This will be followed by “signing pointe shoes”: the étoile will donate several pairs of her own signed shoes. Moderators Fabiola Di Blasi and Daniela Rothensee.

The pas de quatre. Meeting with Maina Gielgud
Based on the model of artist encounters, which are common in theatres and festivals around the world, this event offers an opportunity to interact with Maina Gielgud, Jacopo Bellussi and other international stars who will be guests at the closing gala of the 2025 Festival, which will feature excerpts from the most famous repertoire in the history of the Festival, including Anton Dolin’s iconic Pas de Quatre. With Maina Gielgud, Jacopo Bellussi, Cassandra Trenary, Aliya Tanikpaeva, Ida Praetorius and Jessica Xuan. Moderated by Fabiola Di Blasi and Daniela Rothensee.
ThreeBBallet is a cultural association founded in Genoa in 2022 to organize and support important classical and contemporary dance events, of international importance, in all the theaters and spaces of Genoa and Liguria, in order to increase interest in the art of dance. Furthermore, to date, in conjunction with the events held in recent years, the association has supported numerous masterclasses with international teachers to improve the training path of young dancers, collaborating with all the regional dance schools. Thanks to the sums collected with the proceeds of the shows performed for charity, it has contributed to the support of city institutions and hospitals. ThreeBBallet is now the creator and organizer of a program of free events that will take place before and during the Nervi International Ballet Festival 2025, organized by the Fondazione Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa.
